Katherine's Role
In 2007 Katherine was the spokes person of the 3rd Annual Pedigree Adoption Drive which aimed to bring about the awareness of animal adoption, and the various avenues that enables animal adoption to occur. As spokes person, Katherine appearred in several magazine articles and was on many network talk shows. Katherine, who owns four dogs and is a passionate dog advocate, will hold court inside a giant Pedigree Dog House set in the middle of Times Square in an effort to raise awareness for shelter dogs as part of an educational and fundraising campaign that focuses on finding dogs loving homes.
About Pedigree
Pedigree is the number one brand of dog food in the world, offering a wide variety of products for different dog life stages. As an innovative market leader, Pedigree is at the forefront of pet nutrition and understands pet owner needs by providing a range of innovative products and resources. Because of their love for dogs, Pedigree Food for Dogs created The Pedigree Adoption Drive to help shine a spotlight on the plight of homeless dogs. Through no fault of their own, more than four million dogs end up in shelters every year. Sadly, nearly half of those canines never find a place to call home, a trend that the Pedigree brand and Heigl hope to help reverse.
Their Mission
As part of The PEDIGREE Adoption Drive, Driver and the PEDIGREE Brand hope to encourage adoptions and engage dog lovers in this important cause in four simple ways:
Support Fundraising Efforts
The PEDIGREE Brand is committed to donating up to $1 million from a portion of all 2006 product sales to
support qualified animal shelters and breed rescue organizations across the country.
Free Food
PEDIGREE provides a free month’s supply of dog food to every family/person who adopts a dog in February of each year.
Wear Your Own Dog Tags
To show support of this cause, “Dogs Rule” fashion dog tags are available for free via a mail-in offer;
PEDIGREE will make a $1 donation for every dog tag redeemed. Plus, celebrity-designed dog tags are usually up for auction a month after the Adoption Drive takes place.
Learn About All Things Canine
The main objective though is to promote education about canines and other animals. Educational information on what to expect when adopting a dog is available via a downloadable “Adoption Guide” at pedigree.com.
